Business Development Assistant

Muck Rack is looking for an ambitious individual who is looking to enter the world of sales at one of the fastest growing tech startups in NYC. Muck Rack’s mission is to make journalists, PR pros and marketers more successful by providing the technology to do so. This includes helping media professionals find journalists to pitch and monitor on a day to day basis via Muck Rack, our advanced service.

Muck Rack is looking for a Business Development Assistant to support the business development team that works with leading Fortune 500 companies and large PR agencies across the world. This position will work closely with the Senior Vice President responsible for sales and Business Development Associates.

Responsibilities include

  • Taking good notes
  • Prospecting leads, answering phone calls and scheduling meetings
  • Joining meets and calls with the sales team
  • Developing methods for maintaining the Muck Rack sales database
  • Organizing feedback from sales calls and creating presentations to share the findings with the broader team
  • Becoming involved in the public relations industry in New York and beyond
  • Creating and drafting content about the PR and journalism industries on a weekly basis
  • Demoing Muck Rack at meetings, on phone calls and at events through creative demonstrations and presentations
  • Proactively marketing to follow up effectively with leads
  • Creating landing pages to market specific topics and to generate leads
  • Tracking industry news to identify outreach opportunities

Preferred skills and interests

  • Knowledge of the PR and journalism industries
  • 1-3 years experience working in marketing, business development, PR, or sales
  • Writing blog posts and marketing content
  • Following and analyzing the news to assist with marketing and business promotion
  • Dropbox, Trello, Google Apps, sales CRMs
  • Email marketing
  • Using social media and having a presence on popular platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) to help with business promotion with outreach in the right way
  • Design skills (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) a plus but not required
  • Sharing lots of animated GIFs
  • Blasting music on a Jambox when no one is around in the office
  • Using the latest and greatest mobile and web apps
  • Talking and meeting with lots of people all day to assist with marketing and business promotion
